Happy Halloween!

This year was a really fun Halloween. The kids got way to much candy, but whats Halloween with out lots of candy! We all dressed up together as motorcycle riders. Trick or Treat smell my feet... Happy Halloween everyone!

Ari is back at Primary Childrens Hospital

Ari's fever has gone up again. They believe it is due to the Diabetes Insipidous. Her organs are enlarging and her blood levels are low. Travis, Haley, and Ari will be staying in Primary Children's tonight. Please keep them in your prayers.

Ari is HOME!!!!!!

We are so pleased to announce that Ari has stabilized enough to go back to St. George. They have been up in Salt Lake for a full month. She is on several medications and has an I.V. in her arm, but she is home! They will be making the trip back to SLC for blood work and chemotherapy. Thank you so much for all of your prayers. We truly believe they have helped her to sustain her health.

Arianna remains in "critical" condition, but stable

This is an update written by Liz Hibbard Travis's sister:

"How has Ari been doing?" I called Travis directly tonight. I hadn't heard any news by 6:30 this evening. Usually the email or texts are buzzing with updates. I had an especially busy day, so I didn't do my follow up as early as I would have liked. However, I crossed my fingers and hoped that no news was good news. Travis who is famously optimistic replied to me, "Well, she's in critical condition. Her spleen and liver have taken about as much damage as they can handle. Her platelets are low. Her stomach is swollen and we can see the outline of her liver. She's going to get another blood transfusion tonight. But, she's looking good." He had his usual happy, unwavering spirit that is familiar to anyone who knows Travis.

He further explained that they have not been able to make a diagnosis regarding her “other” medical condition that appears to be completely separate from LCH. As you may recall, she is also suffering from a metabolic condition which does not allow her to metabolize proteins. In an effort to discover a possible diagnosis, her doctors discussed her case in an international medical forum. The doctors were not able to come up with an answer as her tests don’t indicate anything that they have seen. They told Travis that they do believe it is fatal. Meaning, if they can’t find a way to treat it, it will cause her death.

I had a good talk with Travis. He’s as happy as I’ve ever heard him. I know that may seem strange for someone in his situation, but if you know Travis at all, you know he has an unusual optimism unseen in very, very few people. I believe if he would have lived during the Holocaust and been put in a Concentration camp he would have organized a self-improvement sector. He would have made friends with the guards and invited them to his motivational seminars. If they asked him to dig a ditch, he would have made an irrigation canal. He has no prejudice or malice towards any man. And, his faith and belief in his Heavenly Father’s plan is unshakable. I could say the same for Haley.

I think my point is even more illustrated in a story Travis told me tonight. He said that the doctors came in to talk to him and Haley. They suggested that they get counseling for their situation. Travis and Haley looked and each other and said, “Oh, we’re fine. We don’t need counseling. It would just be a waste of time.”

After continued prodding from the doctors for them to get counseling, they finally said, “Hey, most couples in this situation are blaming each other; blaming the doctors; angry, confused, and it tears them apart. We don’t believe you understand the gravity of your situation.”

Travis said, “We understand. We know her situation is serious. We know full well it is a miracle she is still here. We know she may not make it.”

The doctor said, “It’s just that we have seen you around the hospital. You seem to have an extra stride in your step. You seem happy. You and Haley are visiting with the nurses, smiling, and happy. We just don’t want you to have too much false hope.”

“Well, you’ve just met Travis and Haley Lane. That’s how we are,” Travis responded.

I know that they may seem like they are in denial, but truly Travis and Haley are two of the most happy-go-lucky people you may ever meet. Furthermore, I know that Haley’s faith is so strong and she has such a faith in her Father-in-Heaven that she puts complete trust in the hand of the Lord. I want you to think about someone, anyone you know that never says anything bad about anybody. I only know one person—and that’s Haley. She is pure in heart, guileless, and full of faith. Where ever this trial is taking Travis and Haley, they are the kind of people that will end up on higher ground when it is over.

I asked Travis, “Do you have anything specific that you want people to pray for?” He answered, “I don’t know what to tell people to pray for. I hope for peace. I know there is purpose in all of this. I can feel the love, support, and prayers from everyone.”

I told him I wanted to update the blog as so many people are concerned about how she is doing. I said, “Is there anything you want anyone to know?” He said, “Let everyone know that if they come and visit us they can kill two birds with one stone.”

“What do you mean?” I said.

“Vicki and Jaden will be checking in to Primary Children’s tomorrow afternoon. Her seizures have gotten worse and they want her to get here as soon as possible. So the good news is, we’ll all get to be together.” I knew Jaden’s seizures were acting up again, but I didn’t know it had come to this. I know it may sound un-orthodox, but we actually laughed. I know Vicki would be laughing with us. The irony that two of my siblings would be in Salt Lake City Primary Children’s Hospital with two of my nieces facing life-threatening medical conditions makes for a bad soap opera story line. So, we just laughed.

Over twenty years ago, most of the older siblings in my family were working in the pizza parlor in Page. We complained about how much we had to work. My Dad always said, “Hey, you kids should be glad you get to spend so much time together. A lot of families don’t get to see each other this much.” As kids, it didn’t make much sense. But as an adult, you can appreciate time spent together whether it’s work or play. It’s what you make out of it.

I guess if the Jay and Mina Lane family has some good family values they passed on they would be: Learning to be happy no matter how bad the situation. In fact, sometimes the worse the situation is, the happier we can be. They would also include being happy because we’re together. And they would include having faith in the Lord and putting your trust in him.

Travis and Haley are good people. It’s obvious by how many people we see visit this blog each day. It’s obvious in all of the emails, phone calls, letters, texts, that have been full of love and support.

I know Travis didn’t ask for anything specific to be prayed about, but I would ask that everyone pray for them to feel the Lord’s hand in their trial; to bless Ari to make it through this trial feeling love, support, and as little pain as possible. Pray for Travis and Haley to remain strong, happy, and peaceful. To make their marriage stronger as they lean on each other and know that their companionship is one of eternity which with outlast the adversity of mortality. May they always feel the light of Ari’s strong spirit in their family. Pray for them always as our prayers may be the best we can do to offer support in their time of trial.

Arianna Update!

Great news! The Dr's said she is responding to the chemotherapy. They are very pleased with the results. Travis was way excited this morning because it was the first morning since being in the hospital that she didn't have to have a blood transfusion or platelet transfusion. We will keep our fingers crossed and keep praying that she remains strong.

Arianna is Haley (Bradshaw my Cousin)and Travis's youngest daughter. She is at Primary Children's Hospital right now fighting for her life. She has just been diagnosed with the LCH cancer. This is a very rare form of cancer. I will try to post updates as I get them from my sister-in-law Vicki. She has been texting me updates every now and then. Please keep her in your prayers. Here is the latest update via text message about one minute ago:
Vicki: Here's the update so far: She had another platelet transfusion this morning. Mom (Travis's Mom) said it was really sad because they had to put an IV in for it. When the IV team came they were so bummed to find out it was her because they have such a hard time finding her veins. They were also mad that they didn't install a dual pick line. They said it would have been so easy to do a dual line when they did the pick line. The platelet transfusion has to have it's own line. Mom said it was horrible trying to get the IV in, but they got it. I can't remember if I told you that she was taken off Tylenol. Mom said they put her on Oxycodine and it's helped her a ton. She sleeps better and is more content. They said they should be able to tell Wed. if the low dose chemo is working. Until then hopefully she stays stable and her poor little body keeps fighting. Thanks for all the prayers!

Go Army Chicks!

So girls camp was awesome! This is the first time I have gone to girls camp as a leader not a young woman so it was a little different, OK a lot different. We got rained out the first two days and we were freezing. It made it an adventure I guess. We ended up having to cook in a tent the first night and the second night we played a great get to know you game in the tent. There was a lot I learned if I ever have to do it again that's for sure. Some of the things I planned didn't happen but I just have to get over it. Things don't always work out perfect, right? But all in all it turned out great for my first planned girls camp. I loved loved loved the testimony meeting. I loved getting to know the girls they are so loving and kind. We only had 10 girls and ended with only 8. They were great. Although I need to come up with a better chore chart because it just didn't work. So if any of you have any suggestions on that please let me know. It was a great learning experience for me and I would do it again:)

Car Problems!

So my car has had a few issues lately. The passenger and driver windows wouldn't roll down properly. Justin finely took the two doors apart and fixed them. They roll down great now THANK YOU HONEY! And my radio was doing really weird things. First of all the CD player stopped working and the tape deck. The weirdest thing was when I would make a sharp turn with the car the radio would all of a sudden switch to CD playback and when it was off it would just turn on. So I thought I had a bad radio or it was just possessed. So Justin took it out last night and we could hear metal clinking around in there. He took it apart and sure enough a kid had put some pocket change in there and that was what was causing all my radio problems. Taylor later fest up to it and told us that he put some pennies in it. Kids always sabotage us! What would we do without them though! So I'm so excited to have my car fixed YEAH!!!

Breanna Turned 4!

So my baby turned 4 on the 29th of May. I know, I know, I need to get going on another little one. But I am enjoying my two kids so much they are great kids. I just wish I could freeze time but I know that is not possible. Breanna had a great birthday. We took her out to dinner at I-HOP. We invited the Grandma's and Grandpa's (we decided not to do a big birthday party). Then we went home and she blew out her candles and opened her presents and we all eat cake while Breanna tried on her new swimsuit. Here are a few pics of the evening:)

The Little Red Hen...

So lately I have had the urge to make homemade bread. My mother-in-law gave me this great (EASY) recipe. So I tried it and it took quite a few loaves of bread to get the kinks worked out but I think I got it. Thanks to some help from great bread makers(aunt Liz and Lee Ann)! THANK YOU! I just have to say some homemade bread and fresh made strawberry jam from my great sis-in-law Chelsea are a great combo. Talk about delish! This bread is super easy to make. I'm so glad I stuck with it and figured things out because now I love making this bread! YUMMY!

Huge Fan!

So, last night I was so glad to see Carrie Underwood win the "Entertainer of the Year" at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Vegas. I have been a huge fan ever since I saw her tryout on American Idol about four years ago. She has accomplished a lot since then. I just love her music and she has such an amazing voice. I also like that she doesn't seem as stuck up as some other music stars. I just love her new song "I Told You So". I put it on my blog along with some more great Carrie Underwood songs.

Where is the warm Weather!!!!!

So we were planning on going riding here in Cedar on Saturday but of course it was cold and way windy! ugh!!!! I'm so tired of the cold and the wind but I guess I just have to get used to it or move. So we made a quick change of plans and ran down to warm sunny St. George. Man was it nice down there. I really wouldn't mind living there. Maybe someday! Taylor rode the little motorcycle without training wheels we were so excited to see him do that. He had a few little crashes but did really well. Justin got a new birthday present too so he had to go try it out. He loves his new motorcycle! Happy Birthday, Honey!

Saturday Fun!

This last Saturday we wanted to get away from all the cold weather so we loaded up and headed south to St. George. Man was it nice down there. It's so nice to go only 50 miles and the temp goes up 25 degrees. Breanna loves the motorcycle and rode it for about five hours straight. Taylor got about 15 minutes on the bike but he wanted to play in the dirt anyways so it worked out great. Anybody that wants to go just let us know we are always going down there. We know a great spot to go with kids. Justin's parents let us adopt their dog Sam. He is great. We have missed our previous cat killing dog. But we should be safe with Sam because he is way too lazy to chase a cat. I love that about him. I think he would rather sleep with one than chase one.

It was a great Valentine's day. I even got to go to the Temple that morning with my Mom and Russell. It was so fulfilling. It's funny how you can forget that wonderful spirit you feel when you are there in the House of the Lord if you don't go often. I know I need to go more often. That's my new years resolution! To go to the temple more. Justin was so good to stay home with the kids so I could go. Now I really want to go with him soon. I'm so thankful that I can go with him. Thank you Justin for being a great Husband. I love you. Over the weekend me and Justin watched the greatest movie it is called Fireproof. You should check it out it was so inspirational. I think every married couple should watch it together.

I just had to post this!

Breanna was playing with her new Barbies that she got for Christmas and she was playing with one that didn't have any clothes on. So I gave her a black marker and told her to go to daddy and have him color some underwear on her so she would be decent, this was while I was making dinner. Dad had her bring the barbie back to show me what a good job he had done.
The front looks pretty normal and good so I told dad good job but then I turned her around and found this!


I started laughing so hard. He is such a guy! Don't worry I did fix it and now she is decent.
